Creation Date - May 3, 2019

On May 24, Barb & I plan to set out in our motorhome on a 3-4 week trip that will traverse 13 states, going as far West as Devil's Tower Wyoming. We've done similar trips in the past to Key West, Florida and the Maritime provinces of Northeast Canada (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island).

2017 Fall trip to Western PA see the Elk herd

We'll travel about 4,500 miles with the Jeep in tow and use about 500 gallons of diesel ($$$; ouch!). We'll average about 200 miles per day, driving in the morning and out in the Jeep exploring during the day.  We'll have all the comforts of home, including electricity from our 500 amp/hour battery bank backed up by an 8,500 watt diesel generator, central air conditioning, satellite TV, WiFi network, washing machine, 4-door fridge/freezer w/ice-maker, microwave convection oven, full-size living room with 2 sofas and a  master bedroom suite with queen bed, TV and office area.

The motorhome on the day we took possession in 2015
Jeep and towbar included, we'll be rolling down the road with a rig about 55 ft in length and weighing a total of about 30,000 lbs. We'll make up each day's itinerary as we go, staying the night in WalMart parking lots or other spur of the moment 'boondock' locations and an occasional campground to drain our holding tanks and replenish our water. We have enough capacity so that should only happen a few times.

General route, subject to change daily

We'll see Mt Rushmore, the Crazy Horse monument, Devil's Tower, Sturgis (of motorcycle rally fame), the Great Lakes, Niagara Falls and thousands of square miles of America's beautiful and historic heartland scenery and iconic tiny towns & roadside attractions. It should be the adventure of a lifetime.

I'll be posting pictures and a travelogue here daily, so bookmark this site:
