Atlantic, Iowa

Yesterday, whIle cruising down  the interstate, we got a call from Barb's doctor. They wanted her to start on Cipro for a UTI that was detected in a lab test before we left home. We found a WalMart Supercenter in this cute little town of Atlantic, had the prescription fax'd to their pharmacy and got the meds, all in about 20 minutes. Since we were here, we decided to spend the night. Pleasantly cool, so we slept good.

We unhooked the Jeep and took a little excursion to see the area. Cute little downtown, very clean, but few people on the streets. One block out of town and it's gravel roads and farm land.

From Ohio, through Indiana, Illinois and Eastern Iowa, it's been very flat terrain, but out here in Western Iowa it's rolling hills everywhere. In the flatlands, all the farm fields were partially underwater from all the recent rain. I don't know what that does to all the just-sprouting crops, but I don't think it can be good.

Today we're going to try to get into Eastern South Dakota. I'm going to look for a camp-ground tonight so we can replenish our water, charge our batteries fully (on the road, we don't run the generator long enough to top it off) and possibly use their laundromat. Probably a 4 1/2 hour drIving day or more.

PS: As I write this at 7:00am, it just started to rain again, but the forecast is beautiful weather for the next few days.

Some photos from the big truck stop we stayed in Tuesday night:
