Yesterday we drove into Minnesota. Goodbye Dakotas!
The scenery here is decidedly different. There is much more greenery & trees and and it looked much more like our familiar Pennsylvania mountains.
We stopped at a visitor center at Moorhead, MN and got some tips on routes to Duluth (on the shore of Lake Superior) and things to see along the way. We got to our overnight location at a Walmart in Lake Rapids, MN at around 3:00 pm. We jumped in the Jeep and took about a 2 hour driving tour around Leech Lake, the third largest lake in Minnesota. When we got back to the motorhome, it was about 80 deg inside so we turned on the generator and air conditioner for a couple hours while we had some wine, dinner and watched the evening news on the satellite.
From Duluth, we plan to proceed up to Sault Ste Marie and cross the Mackinac bridge in Michigan. On the bridge, we'll see Lake Michigan on our right and Lake Huron on our left. We'll travel down the Michigan peninsula, crossing through Canada a little on our way to Buffalo and the Niagara Falls.
