Yesterday we drove the 240 mile roundtrip into Wyoming to see Devil's Tower. It was a beautiful scenic ride in the Jeep, but when we arrived it was somewhat anti-climactic as you see the Tower for many miles before you arrive at its base. Once we arrived, we looked at it for about 5 minutes and went into their small visitor center & gift shop. It was a nice excursion and we're glad we did it, but now it's checked off the bucket list.

On the way back, we cruised through Sturgis, hoping to find a place to stop and eat. The town was still shut for the Winter, but a few places (very few) were open. The large mega-venues you see during the motorcycle rally were all closed.

We continued up the road about 15 miles to the town of Deadwood, the famous old West town that spawned a TV series. Deadwood was very open, albeit a lot of construction work going on. We parked the car in a parking garage (virtually no on-street parking available; it's a walking town) and stopped at a place called "Mustang Sally's for a late afternoon sandwich. We arrived back at the motorhome about 5:00pm, pretty exhausted.

Were now about 1/2 way through our journey and will ne starting to move East instead of West. Today we'll leave the Black Hills area and drive the motorhome up into North Dakota, tentatively overnighting in Dickinson, ND.
